Church of Ireland in Kilkeedy

The remains of a Church of Ireland are situated in the townland of Templebannagh in Kilkeedy. The church is now in a state of disrepair and the roof is beginning to fall in. Locals remember that services took place here until the 1960's but since that time the Church of Ireland community has declined considerably. Two headstones stand at the rear of the church. The first is dedicated to Rev. John Foot who was rector of the parishes of Kilkeedy and Kilnaboy when they were united in 1872. He became rector in 1877 and according to his headstone he died in 1920. He had to travel a lot between the two parishes using only a horse and trap and in his time as rector only missed one service. A second burial is recorded on this headstone.
